8:15 a.m. Coffee Talk
Participate in small group and large group discussions on what you’ve been able to accomplish and what’s planned for the future. What student engagements were interesting or notable, what advice and inspiration can you gain from the others?
8:45 a.m. See, Run, Do
Get your blood pumping and your brains geared up for more energy content by taking part in this fun thinking, listening, and active team-building game.
9:15 a.m. Intro to Electricity Generation & Build a Generator Model
Challenge yourself to explain – how does a generator work? Work in teams to build a model generator and discuss how it works to generate electricity, and how could this model be improved for better output?
10:30 a.m. Quick Break
10:40 a.m. “Wind” it Up
Get a quick intro to the wind industry (on and offshore) and get hands-on with the NEED wind kits. Wind kits may be selected for your renewable energy kit.
11:45 a.m. Lunch and Networking
Sign in, get some breakfast, meet some friends, and get ready for a fun day
12:30 p.m. Water Power Hour!
Take a closer look at how moving water does work and generates electricity. These hands-on activities will be sure to show you a dam fun time. NC also hosts some marine energy testing, so we might make some waves with a marine energy focused activity as well! Hydropower kits may be selected for your renewable energy kit
1:45 p.m. Solar-brate Good Times!
The star of our day will be these activities that explore solar energy. Learn more about passive and active solar technologies with the NEED Solar kits. You may choose to select a solar kit for your school.
2:45 p.m. Discussion and Planning
3:15 p.m. Next steps & pick your Kit! And other fun end-of-day paperwork
