2024 Educator Workshops
NEED is expanding and evolving to best meet the needs of both teachers and students – in the classroom and beyond. Educators know that participating in NEED workshops provides them an opportunity to improve their personal energy knowledge while receiving valuable training and ideas to use in and out of their classrooms – no matter what grade level or subject they teach.
Working with education and energy advisors, NEED designs and delivers professional development opportunities for teachers that not only educate, but also energize, and bring that energy into their classrooms, afterschool programs/clubs, and even scouting troops.
NEED works with sponsors and partners to be able to offer professional development energy training workshops during the week (substitute reimbursement provided), on weekends (a stipend for spending a Saturday with us), and virtually, to allow all teachers the chance to participate. Thanks to our sponsors, the workshops are free to attend and most include the opportunity to receive a NEED energy kit at no cost, in addition to NEED's already free curriculum and resources.
In 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting 136 professional development workshops for educators across the nation. Joining us were a total of 3,021 teachers from 1,885 schools across 932 cities, 35 states, and Washington, D.C. At least 585,919 students were reached utilizing materials and curriculum presented at the workshop, noting these numbers do not include our student workshops, conference/convention, STEM Fairs, summer camps, and more that engage with students across the nation.
NEED makes training fun, engaging, and worthwhile! The majority of workshop participants (71%) had never attended a prior energy training. With over 2,000 workshop evaluations, 99% agree participating in the workshop increased their energy knowledge and will allow them to increase their students' energy knowledge. An energy-themed pre and posttest is given at each workshop, with an aggregate average posttest score reflecting a 93% increase in knowledge gain. Word of mouth is one of our best marketing efforts and 2024 evaluation responses reflect that 99% of workshop participants will recommend NEED materials and attending a workshop to others.
