9:15 a.m. Electric Connections – The NEED Project
In this lesson, participants will examine how hydropower fits into the regional and national electricity generation mix.

9:30 a.m. The Science of Hydropower and Marine Kinetic – The NEED Project
How does a hydroelectric dam generate electricity? Create a hydropower model for use in your classroom and explore marine hydrokinetic models.

10:30 a.m. Careers in Hydropower – BEF/Clean Energy.Bright Futures
What careers are available in hydro power today? How can educators create more career awareness in their students? CE staff will share best practices for career connected learning and industry partnerships.

12:00 p.m. “Explore the Corps” Lunch and Learn
Did you know you don’t have to be in the Army or be an engineer to have an exciting career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers? In this power hour, you will learn about the USACE missions, their role in providing hydropower to the nation, and the many electrifying career opportunities they offer. Through a hands-on tutorial of USAjobs, you will practice your research skills, which will empower you with great information to share with your students about internships, entry-level positions, virtual career fairs, and more! Then, get amped up with some dam field trip, job shadow, and guest speaker options! Watt could be better than that?
